Hats with Flaps
I used to pause atop suicide hill before tightening the clips on my mittens and pointing my toboggan down the quarter-mile woodcutter’s track. It was a moment of peace before the torrent of snow and frenzy of stumps that would claim many sleds and a few bones along the way. Silence, pierced by a winter’s gale that blew in my four-year-old ears and made my ears hurt. If I only had the perfect hat to guard my tender lobes against that wind.

Fleece Blanket
I remember sleeping next to the Franklin stove in my grandparent’s house as Nor’easters banged the shutters against the windows. My belly full of fresh cocoa, I would retreat to the corner by the stove and doze off as the adults whiled into the night with talk of politics and plant closings. Grandmom gave me a “floor blanky” and a pillow for those naps, and to this day I can smell the hickory smoke from the stove blended with the whisky spilled on the table.

Antiquing in Ephrata, I came upon my first one. “Sunshine and Shadow” it was called and it was love at first sight. With names like “Nine Patch”, “Log Cabin” and “Diamond in the Square”, who can but enjoy the elegant simplicity. Ours is simply “Rag Quilt”. Backed by fleece, you will soon have a snoozing partner you’ll never part with. As with everything we make, colors to suit. Snuggling at no extra charge.
